What happens when you lose a parent and a parent-in-law, buy a house, and leave a job you care about all in one year? And then, through a series of professional disappointments, leave three more jobs you've come to care about over the next three years? If you're lucky, you happen upon the idea of blogging about what you think the world -- and the business world, in particular -- could do better, and as a result, you grow as a person and as a professional.
I'll share my story about how CorporateIdealist.com came to be, why it was such a necessary project for me, how I went about developing a plan for it, how I recruited additional contributors, how we achieved successes like interviewing Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos.com, and how I knew when it was time to let it go and take what I'd learned into the real world. For me, that was about applying my now clearly-articulated ideals to running my own company, [meta]marketer.
By the end of the session, I hope you'll leave inspired to find your own content catharsis, and along the way try to make the world a better place, or at least make yourself a better person.
