Richard Florida, the sociologist who studies creative economies, has called Nashville "the Silicon Valley of music." Nashville has the potential to become "the Silicon Valley of music." Nashville is at an exciting intersection. Our city's entrepreneurs in entertainment, technology, health care and venture capital have previously existed in silos. Today, they are coming together, really for the first time, in a powerful new direction. Nashville's first generation of innovators, echo's Mark Montgomery, EMMA's Clint Smith and Will Weaver, StudioNow’s Dave Mason and Adam Solesby, have created some of Nashville's first successful and profitable innovative entertainment models. Recent citywide collaboration efforts like the Nashville Entrepreneur Center, Vanderbilt Owen, Belmont Center for Entrepreneurship, Mayor’s Nashville Music Council, Innovation Group Nashville, Better Bootstrap, TTDC and TNInvestco are continuing to focus and build momentum in the right direction.
